Electrode (lightning)
I consider Electrode as an alternative for the Coldheart relic in that it also has CC capabilities. The main downside, however, is that Coldheart is just a lot more consistent with usable skills and triggered passives/procs. Still, if you’re able to find legendary weapons that cause the shock debuff on enemies (and, in turn, generate Lightning Strikes or stuns), then you’ve got a relic that’s worth leveling up in Torchlight III.
Main ability: Shocking Burst – Fires multiple electric shockwaves around you, doing 125% weapon damage and shocking enemies for 8 seconds; 50% chance to shock enemies for 50% weapon damage; +5% damage buff for all allies within range.
- Shocking Strikes – Increased shock chance while Shocking Burst is activated.
- Brutal Intent – Increased critical hit chance while Shocking Burst is activated.
Active skill: Localized Storm – Summons two ionic storms that move away from you in an erratic pattern; deals 190% weapon damage and has a 25% chance to stun enemies.
- Stronger Storm – Increases the damage of Localized Storm.
- Quicker Storm – Reduces the cooldown of Localized Storm.
Passive 1: Lightning Strike – 10% chance to call down a lightning strike when you hit a shocked enemy; does 100% weapon damage.
- Increasing Charge – Increases the chance of Lightning Strikes proc.
- Fried – Lightning Strike stuns enemies for 1 second; rank-ups increase the stun duration by a small percentage.
Passive 2: Violent Burst – Whenever you kill an enemy, there’s a 40% chance you’ll unleash shock bolts that deal 125% weapon damage.
- Deadlier Bolts – Bolts do higher damage.
- Unleashed Energy – Increases the proc chance of Violent Burst.
Passive 3: Lingering Charge – Electrode’s activation causes additional storms to occur, doing 150% weapon damage and shocking enemies for 4 seconds.
Lightning strikes not zapping enough for you? Take a look at the Blood Drinker relic’s leeching effects.
