Ace Combat 7 F-22

Thrustmaster Joysticks now compatible with Ace Combat 7

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Owners of various Thrustmaster joysticks are in luck. Today, Thrustmaster has released a list of its hardware that is now compatible with Bandai Namco’s Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. The compatibility comes prior to the release of the game’s season pass DLC, which will add three additional maps, plus three new aircraft to the game’s unlockable aircraft tree. Thrustmaster states that both presets and key-mapping are available for all of its gear.

Ace Combat 7 was the second Ace Combat game to receive a PC release, following the release of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon in 2013. Fans of the series criticized Assault Horizon for its departure from the mainline series.

Project Aces, Bandai Namco’s internal development team for the Ace Combat series, abandoned the fictional “Strangereal” universe in favor of a real-world setting for Assault Horizon. Similarly, the team also ditched the anime-inspired story-telling for something more akin to a Western military shooter.

Ace Combat 7 returned to its roots

With the release of Ace Combat 7, Project Aces have brought the series back to Strangereal. With that, the game also features a silent protagonist, something that was common in the series’ previous entries.

Newcomers to the series can expect realistic flight combat mixed with some unusual and often fragmented storytelling. With that said, the plot of this game was often hard to follow, but the game definitely delivers on telling a unique wartime story.

Near the beginning of this year, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Ace Combat 7. Above all, I found that the game brought some notable improvements to the gameplay, including a few unforgiving turbulence sequences when flying through rough weather. The game offers a wide variety of mission tasks, some of which exceeded my expectations. As for now, the launch of the three DLC missions has yet to be confirmed, but I am certainly excited to play them whenever they arrive.

The list of Thrustmaster gear that is now compatible with the game is as follows:

T.Flight Hotas range:

  • T.Flight Hotas X
  • T.Flight Hotas 4
  • T.Flight Hotas One
  • T.Flight Hotas 4 Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown Edition
  • T.Flight Hotas One Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown Edition

T.16000M range:

  • T.16000M
  • T.16000M FCS
  • T.16000M FCS Hotas
  • T.16000M FCS Flight Pack
  • T.Flight Rudder Pedals
  • TWCS Throttle

HOTAS Warthog range:

  • HOTAS Warthog
  • HOTAS Warthog Flight Stick
  • HOTAS Warthog Dual Throttles
  • Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder

Will you be employing any of these in Ace Combat 7?
