In a revolutionary move, Bethesda have released a teaser trailer for Doom offering an entire three seconds of actual footage.

Okay, yes, I’m mocking it, but I can actually understand this one, and hey – it’s rare for a teaser trailer to show any footage. I’m looking at you, Assassin’s Creed, and your gloved hand. Also, there aren’t 30 seconds of logos before this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it bit of footage, which is also quite pleasant.

Anyway: the purpose of this little bit of footage is to remind everyone that Bethesda is having an E3 showcase for the first time, with Doom taking centre stage. For that, it’s quite effective. It’s also focused more on shooting than on lurking horrors, which implies that, yes, shooting will be first and foremost in this, as opposed to Doom 3‘s emphasis on darkness and spookiness at the cost of actual entertaining blasting. Why else would you show a Revenant? Or am I reading too much into this three seconds? Probably!

According to this video, Doom will be properly revealed at Bethesda’s E3 showcase, at 7pm PT on 14 June. We will be paying attention.
