THQ: Windows Phone 7 Is ‘A Great Platform’

Following Microsoft’s publication of its line-up of over 60 Windows Phone 7 launch games, THQ Wireless has told IncGamers they believe it’s a ‘great platform that ‘offers some features over some of the other platforms’.
Adam Comiskey, Vice President of THQ Wireless, said: “We think it’s a great platform, especially with the Xbox Live and Premium Marketplace features they are offering. Their line-up from partners looks great, with some great titles shipping.”
The firm, which will release Star Wars Battle for Hoth, Star Wars Cantina and De Blob Revolution for the format when it launches this Christmas, said out of its line-up Star Wars and De Blob are key.
“The Star Wars titles have been a great success on other platforms and we hope they will continue on this,” Comiskey said. “ De Blob being an original THQ IP really works well with the device as well.”
Discussing the Windows Phone 7 as a games system, Comiskey said it boasts some features over other platforms and adds that the fact he only needs to develop for one operating system (Xbox Live) means it’s much easier to get titles on to the format.
“Windows Phone 7 is competitive,” said Comiskey. “It offers some features over some of the other platforms and also the single software specification is a great help as we are developing to one OS and specification and not 100 different device specs.”
He also added that the games will come with a charge, but said: “We haven’t set final launch prices yet.”
