This week’s releases (23/09/11)

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

The release of Gears of War 3 can only mean one thing, we’ve hit the thick end of the Christmas release schedule list. Released at midnight this evening in numerous locations around the world, the final act in Epic Games’ muscle-bound trilogy will surely sit atop the weekly charts come the onset of the weekend.
Not that it doesn’t deserve its surefire success however, our 9/10 review calling it “A triumphant third act for the high-octane series that improves upon the already brilliant offerings of the previous two games.”
Second of the week’s two major boxed releases is Codemasters’ F1 2011, the second game in the latest Formula 1 franchise attempting to win pole position in the hearts of the sport’s fanbase.
Featuring a co-op career, expanded multiplayer, the much-requested safety car and improved opposition AI, F1 2011 is sure to feature somewhere in the top 5 of the UK software chart. Like Gears 3, F1 2011 also saw a favourably critique from us. Our 8/10 review describing the racer as “an essential game for diehard fans of the sport.”
Other games out this week include:
