This is what a 12,000 person LAN party looks like

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

This past weekend played host to Sweden’s Dreamhack Winter 2011, the biggest LAN party in the world in which over 12,000 people turned up with PCs in hand.
Participants indulged in games of their choosing for fun against other players, or entered the more serious e-sports competitions for games like Counter-Strike and StarCraft 2. As well as games, the event involved live music acts, parties and (of course) plenty of pop-up shops selling everything from refreshments to pointlessly posh gaming keyboards.
It also looked incredibly uncomfortable and I’m sure the level of personal hygiene was far from par.
