The Riveter is one of the strongest Shotguns in MW3 as it’s fully automatic with a fast rate of fire. Shotguns are a force to be reckoned with up close, but there’s a way we can make the Riveter just as deadly at range.
How to snipe with the Riveter Shotgun
By equipping the Canted Vibro-Dot 7 to the Riveter, you can dramatically increase the weapon’s range and reduce its pellet spread.
You must use the weapon in Tac Stance for the desired effect, and the difference it makes is staggering. In my testing, it takes the Riveter roughly 8 shots to take down the middle target in the Firing Range without any attachments in Tac Stance. With the Canted Vibro-Dot 7, it only takes 2. Firing in Tac Stance is so accurate you can reliably land headshots at an absurd range for a Shotgun.

This interaction is likely unintended, as the laser doesn’t have the same effect on other shotguns. Keep in mind that the Firing Range isn’t a perfect match for multiplayer, but it still demonstrates the power of this combo.
Shotguns are inconsistent in MW3 and an absolute nightmare for the camo grind. I recommend using the Riveter in Hardcore for challenges, but this laser is an option if you insist on playing in Core.
Mercifully, this combination doesn’t work with Incendiary Rounds as they reduce the overall range of the weapon. You can hit the furthest target in the Firing Range with either the Slug or Gauge Ball ammunition.
Will I get in trouble for using the attachment?
The developers have the final say with any penalties, but it’s doubtful you’ll see any recourse from using this attachment. You’re not using 3rd party hardware/software. You’re using a laser everyone can access. I imagine the Riveter and Canted Vibro-Dot 7 interaction will be patched if it becomes problematic.
