Following its launch of The Wonderful 101: Remastered on Kickstarter last week, Platinum Games is taking its heroes on the road. Later this month, at PAX East in Boston, the company will showcase the first playable build for the remade Wii U game, which will debut on Steam this year.
The company will have a booth on the show floor, where interested attendees can try the game out. It’ll obviously have some gameplay changes, as the original release utilized the Wii U’s touch screen. Fortunately, Platinum Games has a system set up that will make it work with ease.
Following its crowdfunding launch, The Wonderful 101: Remastered became an instant success story for Platinum. It made the $250,000 needed for a Steam version on the same day of its launch. Currently, it sits at just over $1.6 million, meaning more features are likely to come before the campaign ends in just over three weeks.
A panel where Hideki Kamiya will block you (Just kidding. Or are we?)
This revision should get a lot of attention on the show floor. However, that’s not the only thing the company has planned. They’ve also announced a “101 Things You Didn’t Know About Platinum Games” panel for the event. There, studio head Atsushi Inaba and game director Hideki Kamiya will discuss the studio’s success. In addition, they’ll talk about “how they united, where they’re going, and what they have in store for the future.” Attendees are likely to see even more of The Wonderful 101: Remastered in action there. The panel takes place on February 29, going from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET.
So, those that are attending the show (like us!) will have a lot to look forward to from Platinum. Just try to get in line early, because these heroes are well in demand.
For those that want to contribute to the Kickstarter and get their hands on the game, you can do so here. The trailer for the original 2013 Wii U version is below.
PAX East takes place from February 27 through March 1 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
