Peril on Gorgon is The Outer Worlds’ first of two narrative DLC expansions, first revealed back in July. Launching on September 9, the DLC was shown once more at gamescom this week with an extended gameplay video, in which Game Director Carrie Patel showcases the sidequest, “Love Is The Plan, The Plan Is Death.” Perilously sounding, indeed.
If you are already familiar with The Outer Worlds, well, expect more of that messed up yet oddly funny universe.
The real plan in Peril on Gorgon, besides Love and Death, is to investigate the origin of Adrena-Time. This comes as a “noir-tinged adventure” on—you guessed it—Gorgon. The asteroid is home to a bunch of new content, but only to those who have progressed past Monarch in the base game.
What to expect from The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon
Peril on Gorgon sees players travel to the asteroid, which once functioned as a scientific base for Halcyon, to find the failed project’s director, Olivia Ambrose. Since then, however, it’s regressed into a chaotic, nasty place filled with monsters and Marauders. The task is simple, the mission not so much. If Obsidian is to be believed, there is much more at play on Gorgon than a simple project that went awry.
But that’s not all. Besides a host of new characters and stories, Peril on Gorgon also brings new features. New character customization and lore are part of the DLC, as well as new armor sets, weapons, perks, flaws, and even an increased level cap.
Peril on Gorgon is the first of two expansions, each sold separately. It will set you back $14.99, but if you own the Xbox Game Pass you’ll receive a 10% discount. Alternatively, you can buy The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass for $24.99 on September 9, which includes both Peril on Gorgon and the second expansion, Murder on Eridanos.
