The Last Of Us Part 1 Pc Version Launches Poor Performance Issues

The Last of Us Part 1 PC version launches with poor performance issues

A rocky port.

One of Sony’s next big PC ports released on March 28, but with some jarring technical issues. The Last of Us Part 1, the remake of Naughty Dog’s 2013 hit, arrived on Steam and Epic Games Store as a port from PlayStation. But sadly, the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 launched with poor performance issues. This led the Steam reviews to be ‘mostly negative’ at this time. Sadly, most players have been experiencing things from bad load times to crashes.

The Last of Us Part 1 on PC riddled with crashes and bugs

While many of PlayStation’s most recent PC ports have been a success, it seems as though this one isn’t so lucky. Iron Galaxy helped Naughty Dog out with The Last of Us Part 1’s PC port, as they’ve had a history of working on ports for games like this. With currently over 7,000 reviews on Steam, they overall land at ‘mostly negative’. In response to the amount of issues players have brought up, Naughty Dog posted this tweet.

One of the Steam reviews stated that The Last of Us Part 1 on PC “Crashes every 20 minutes. Game is badly optimized. Game looks great just needs to be better optimized.” Another reviewer commented on the long wait times by saying “I waited for almost 2.5 hours for the game to build shaders while crashing in the main menu every 5 or so minutes.” It seems like although the game itself looks great, it isn’t optimized well for PC yet.

Most of the reviews cover common issues such as stuttering, long load times, high CPU usage, and more. Even some reviewers are attempting to fix the issues themselves, with one explaining a possible fix for camera jittering. Otherwise, most players are either asking for refunds, or stating that the game is unplayable at this time. Although the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 launched with poor performance issues, Naughty Dog has heard your concerns and are addressing them.
