Neil Druckmann, creator of The Last of Us has confirmed that the upcoming movie will be an adaption of the game, rather than a spin off.
Whilst talking to IGN at last night’s BAFTA awards (which The Last of Us won five), Druckmann revealed that the movie will indeed be an adaption of the game which means that Joel and Ellie might well be on the big screen sometime soon.
“It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us,” he said. “As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.”
Druckmann also revealed that we can expect another piece of multiplayer DLC for the game and that Naughty Dog were in no rush to create a follow up. “We don’t know yet,” he said. “We’re still trying to figure it out. We’re brainstorming some stuff, so we’ll see where that goes.”
There have been rumours that a sequel was already in the works but it would seem that there is nothing specific happening at the moment. Troy Baker, the man who motion captured Joel said that he would be interested in playing Joel in the film and that he would also reprise his role in a sequel if he was asked. He also said that fans should trust Druckmann with the film.
