The Golden Joystick 2012 Winners

The annual Golden Joystick Awards are taking place in London today and it’s a time to look back and celebrate the gaming successes from the past twelve months. The winners who walked away with the gongs were as follows:

• Best Action Game – Arkham City
• Best Mobile /Tablet – Angry Birds Space
• Best Strategy – Civilization V: Gods and Kings
• Best Downloadable Game – Minecraft XBLA
• Best Fighter – Mortal Kombat
• Best Shooter – Battlefield 3
• Best MMO – World of Tanks
• Best Handheld – Uncharted: Golden Abyss
• Top Gaming Moment – Skyrim’s Throat of the World
• One to Watch – Grand Theft Auto 5
• Best DLC Award – Portal 2
• Best RPG – Skyrim
• YouTube Gamer of the Year – Yogscast
• Ultimate Game of the Year – Skyrim

A record amount of gamers voted for the winners this year and there was some intense campaigns from publishers such as Wargaming to win votes from their fans, a strategy that appears to have worked.  Congratulations to all the winners who are now busy popping the champagne corks with a long afternoon of celebrations ahead.
