Game Awards Dragon Age bioware reputation fans trust

The next Dragon Age game will be part of The Game Awards presentation

The Game Awards are becoming a must-watch

The Game Awards, a yearly show that doles out commendations to members of the gaming industry, has also doubled as a platform for numerous announcements. The show is already packed with reveals, including the next map in Among Us and another for the third season of Fall Guys. This reveal might take the cake as the biggest of them all though. This year’s Game Awards is also providing a “special look” at the next Dragon Age title in development BioWare.

Like any news surrounding The Game Awards, this announcement is from founder and host Geoff Keighley’s Twitter account. Of course, no other news about the reveal is available. For that, fans will simply have to wait until The Game Awards. The show officially goes live next Thursday, December 10 at 3:30 PM PT or 6:30 PM ET.

This marks the second tease for Dragon Age 4 recently. During the past gamescom, publisher EA revealed a short developer commentary about Dragon Age 4. The feature, filled with concept art and comments from the game’s developers on what players can expect from it, also confirmed what was previously hinted regarding the upcoming title’s story. Dragon Age 4 will definitely center around the simultaneously hated and loved character Solas and his transformation into a mythical being known as the Dread Wolf.

Trouble behind the scenes

It’s hard to acknowledge the upcoming appearance of a Dragon Age title at The Game Awards without acknowledging yesterday’s events involving BioWare. The company saw the departure of two of its veteran staff: general manager Casey Hudson and Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah. Darrah’s retirement from BioWare, where he has worked for the past 23 years of the company’s 25-year existence, will assuredly affect the development of Dragon Age 4.

In a blog post announcing his resignation, Darrah explained that the Dragon Age franchise is being left in good hands. “I am confident that, together, this is the team that can make this Dragon Age the best one yet,” wrote Darrah.
