Ultimate Valby Playstyle and Skills explained

Before you go off building your Ultimate Valby, understanding her playstyle is crucial.

If you are already familiar with Valby, then you can move along, as the skills are the same. The only differences are that they’re more powerful. If you have skipped straight to Ultimate Valby, however, then please read on.

Here are all of Ultimate Valby’s skills in The First Descendant:

  • Water Intake is Valby’s Passive skill that reduces the MP cost of her abilities whilst she’s standing in water. Any water will count, even pools created by other abilities.
  • Bubble Bullet launches a water projectile that will bounce for three times before exploding (if it doesn’t hit anyone first), which then creates a puddle of water. It’s damage increases the more damage it does, and enemies hit with it are inflicted with Laundry.
  • Plop Plop allows you to pick a spot is a far range. This will create a large puddle that will continually damage enemies in it and inflict them with Laundry. Once the puddle is made, Valby will dive into the ground and launch from the big puddle, damaging and knocking back enemies. The more enemies affected by the knockback, the more damage is dealt.
  • Clean Up will enter you into a liquified state. Whilst liquified, you phase through enemies, take reduced damage, have increased speed, and leaves behind a Waterway. Enemies in the water way are inflicted with Laundry and receive constant damage. Whilst liquified, you can’t jump or use other skills.
  • Laundry Bomb equips Valby with a unique weapon that has a limited timer and projectile count. When you shoot enemies with it, those in the radius of the impact will get pulled into one big bubble. This deals continuous damage that increases the more enemies are inflicted with Laundry. Enemies with Laundry in the bubble are inflicted with Towed.

Ultimate Valby may be stronger than Valby, but the playstyle is the same. Zipping around your enemies to drench them with Laundry for the Laundry bomb payoff is what you’ll primarily be doing.

Her skills allow her to control the battlefield by creating puddles and Waterways that damage all enemies that step foot in them. The range of her skills also provides a safe distance from your foes, yet you’ll always need to be close by and ready.

This makes Ultimate Valby an interesting support character whose support comes in her ability to mop up her enemies if she can get enough water coverage. Placing puddles in strategic locations will also make certain missions and objectives much easier to accomplish.

Best Ultimate Valby build in The First Descendant

With all the knowledge on how Ultimate Valby plays in The First Descendant, we can finally get into the specifics of the build.

Best Ultimate Valby Modules

The Modules that you equip for Ultimate Valby will dictate your performance. As you level up your Mastery, prestige Ultimate Valby, and use Energy Activators, you’ll be able to equip more Modules to make her as powerful as possible.

Here is a list of all the Modules I’d recommend for Ultimate Valby:

ModuleModule Effects
Hydro Pressure BombChanges the Plop Plop skill to have you launch up into the air instead of diving through the ground.
Shock Punch (Sub Module)Use a shock punch when performing a charged sub attack. Also increases max module capacity as it’s leveled up.
Skill Expansion Increases Skill Effect range.
Focus on Non-AttributeIncreases Non-Attribute Skill Power and reduces Skill Cooldown.
Maximize SkillIncreases Skill Power and reduces Skill Cooldown.
Technique ManualDeals additional skill damage.
TechnicianIncreases Skill Power.
Emergency Measures Increases skill critical hit chance and damage.
Fusion MasterIncreases Skill Power and Fusion Skill Power.
Weighing the ScalesIncreases your Max Shield and reduces Skill Costs.
Increase HPIncreases max HP.
Enlightenment Increases max MP.

As you can see, the recommended Modules for Valby are mostly concerned with making her skills more powerful and reducing the cooldowns and costs to allow you to inflict Laundry as much as possible.

Ultimate Valby is pretty strong, but this doesn’t mean she’s invincible. Ensuring her survivability is still important as she’s still rather delicate, at least in more dangerous levels and stages.

Best Ultimate Valby Reactor Stats

The Reactor you use will increase your Skill damage, but each one will only boost a specific skill type. All of a Descendant’s skills are of the same Attribute (which is Non-Attribute in Ultimate Valby’s case), although skills may vary with their type. You’ll need a reactor that buffs with the Attribute and the skill types that you want.

One of the Materialized Reactors is what you’ll want, as they boost with Non-Attribute Skills.

Ultimate Valby’s Bubble Bullet and Laundry Bomb are Fusion Skills, and Plop Plop and Clean Up are Dimension Skills.

If you want her Dimension Skills to receive higher damage, go for a Materialized Phase Reactor. If you want her Fusion Skills to receive higher damage, go for a Materialized Mixture Reactor.

I’d personally recommend you go for the Materialized Mixture Reactor, as her strongest skill is in that set.

Best Ultimate Valby External Components

External Components are fantastic for rounding out specific stats in The First Descendant, as that’s all they really do. Regardless, every little helps.

As different components can help with the same stats, I’ll mention the stats that you’ll want to increase:

  • Increase DEF
  • Increase max Shield

Ultimate Valby only has a little more Defence and amx Shields than Valby, so you’ll still want to increase those stats as much as you can to ensure her survival.

Honestly, I’d personally go all in on the Defence as that’s her lowest stat and can definitely do with some love and attention.

Best Weapons for Ultimate Valby

The right weapon for Ultimate Valby in The First Descendant will allow you to rely less on your skills to help your team.

Divine Punishment Ultiamte Valby The First Descendant

For Ultimate Valby, the ultimate weapon Divine Punishment is a fantastic fit.

Not only is it a powerful gun, but with every skill Valby is inflicting a status effect on an enemy, which means she will almost always benefit from Glory, an effect the gun will grant her. Glory increases firearm attack, meaning that as long as you’re shooting out skills, you’ll be dealing even more damage.

Divine Punishment is also an assault rifle, meaning it’ll be able to keep up with Ultimate Valby’s fast combat style and maneuverability.
