BioWare is continuing to support the multiplayer side of Mass Effect 3, announcing yet another add-on for the game. Like the rest, ‘Retaliation’ will be free, and it looks set to add a number of new features. Remember those Collector guys from Mass Effect 2? Well, they’re back.

As well as the new Collector faction (Praetorian, Scion, Abomination, Trooper, and Captain), Cerberus is getting a Dragoon trooper and the Geth will now pop out some Drones to make your life difficult. “Hazard” versions of existing firebase maps are promised as well, which would appear to add environmental difficulties like “Acid, Lightning, Meltdowns, Sandstorms, Swarms, and Whiteout”.

To give your characters a fighting chance, you’ll be able to unlock a few Collector weapons (Collector Assault Rifle, Sub-Machine Gun, and Sniper Rifle) and a couple of new Turian types: the Turian Havoc Soldier and Turian Ghost Infiltrator.

In addition, ‘Retaliation’ will add a number of “challenges” to take part in. These are assignments that can unlock “titles and banners to display in-game” to show off your prowess.

Retaliation will be free to download from 9 October (10 October on PSN in Europe).
