Minecraft has revealed the Bogged, a new Skeleton variant coming to the game. The community is mixed about the arrival of this new enemy, despite new enemies being something many have wanted.
What is the Bogged in Minecraft?
The Bogged’s arrival is something no one had anticipated from Minecraft. On Valentine’s Day, they released a ton of videos and images showcasing the Bogged… when there wasn’t a lot to talk about. The Bogged is simply a Skeleton that shoots poison arrows, like how the Stray is simply a Skeleton that shoots Arrows that slow you down.
The Bogged will spawn in Swamp biomes but also in the Trial Chambers, the latest structure coming to Minecraft. This will certainly make them much more challenging, as no matter your armor, the poison will seep right through.
I think they look cool, and that they are a welcome addition to the game.
However, many have regarded this as a slap in the face. Minecraft is happy to release what is essentially a Skeleton clone with a couple of differences rather than adding one of the many mobs that didn’t cut prior mob votes.
For months now, the community has been practically begging for a new mob that either is from an old mob vote, drops more than nothing, and/or is practically useful. And the Bogged is what Minecraft has to show for itself.
Players are underwhelmed and disappointed.

How to access the Bogged early
Although the Bogged isn’t fully in Minecraft yet, you can play around with the creature and test it out if you play the latest snapshot. Currently, this is only for PC players, but is coming to Bedrock edition beta and preview soon.
To play the latest snapshot, open up the Minecraft launcher. Locate the Play button right in the middle of the screen. To the far left of that is a drop-down menu that allows you to select which version of Minecraft you want to play. Select Latest Snapshot (24w07a).
When you play Minecraft now, you’ll be playing in the latest snapshot, which is where the latest features will be. Before these features make it to the latest version of Minecraft, they may be changed or tweaked.
Note that you will need to make a new world when playing with a new Snapshot, so don’t expect to be able to see all of the Snapshot’s features in your current world.
Now that you know all about the Bogged in Minecraft, why don’t you check out the best texture packs for the game?
