Sonic CD
You may have noticed we mentioned Christian Whitehead with Sonic Mania earlier. And you also may have asked: “Who?” Well, he’s the savvy developer and Sonic fan who put together a revamped version of the Sega CD classic Sonic CD.
Like in its original form, Sonic races through the past, present, and future as he attempts to stop Eggman’s most diabolical plot yet in Sonic CD. Use time travel to your advantage across intricate levels, while keeping everything up to speed.
Whitehead and company did a swell job sprucing this game up for a new generation to enjoy. And now you can find out just how good it is, as it’s available for an unbeatable $1.24 on Steam. Considering what the original retail release goes for, you shouldn’t let that pass by.
Sega Mega Drive and Genesis Classics
While Sonic’s newer games are good fun, there are those of you that want to see where he got his start. There’s no better place to do that than with Sega Mega Drive and Genesis Classics.
Featuring 59 games from yesteryear (including the aforementioned Sonic CD remaster), this package runs the gamut with Sonic goodness. You can enjoy games like Sonic Spinball, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3D Blast. There’s even Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, in case you’re up for some puzzle action.
There are a ton of other games included as well, like Gunstar Heroes, Toejam and Earl, and Ristar. So no matter what you’re into (RPGs, action, or driving) there’s something for you here. Get the collection now for just $29.99.
Sonic Adventure
Anyone remember the Sega Dreamcast era? Then you may recall Sonic Adventure, his trailblazing 3D debut on the console — face it, Sonic 3D Blast doesn’t count. Sure, it’s a little rough in spots, but overall, Sonic Adventure is a thrilling ride that does the hero proud. With its high-end visuals (well, for 1999) and fun gameplay, it’s got something for everyone.
Not to mention its price. Right now, you can get it over on Steam for a dirt-cheap $1.19 over the next week. That’s less than the price of any food item you can get at a real Sonic. While you’re at it, you can complete the journey with Sonic Adventure 2 for an additional $2.49 — or go further with its upgraded Battle edition.
