What are Gadgets in The Finals?

Players can select 3 Gadgets to take into each match in The Finals. Many of these are Class-specific, although a few Gadgets are available to everyone. As each Class is unique, let’s tackle them one by one so you can tailor your selection to your play style.

Best Gadgets for Light Class

  • Smoke Grenade
  • Thermal Vision
  • Vanishing Bomb

Smoke Grenade

The Light Class excels with a hyper-aggressive but evasive playstyle. The Smoke Grenade allows you to vanish in a puff of smoke or cause chaos in an enclosed location. Smoke is thick and obstructive in The Finals and fits the Light Class perfectly.

Thermal Vision

Although it’ll take time to get used to, Thermal Vision is an incredible Gadget for highlighting foes in poorly lit areas. Not only that, but Thermal Vision pairs nicely with Smoke Grenades, as you can see so clearly through it. If you use these Gadgets in tandem, you can run rings around the competition.

Vanishing Bomb

The Vanishing Bomb is a niche Gadget in the Light arsenal, but it does have uses. This Gadget allows you to disappear on command, but the downside is that it only lasts a few seconds. You can use this time to break the line of sight or disorient your opponent in a fight, but it will take skill to get the most out of it.

Best Gadgets for Medium Class

  • Defibrillator
  • Jump Pad
  • Explosive Mine

Defibrillator

The Defibrillator is the perfect companion to the Healing Beam, as you can restore your friends to full health within a few seconds. Health restores slowly in The Finals, and Medium players can fill a valuable support role with this Gadget.

Jump Pad

I love the Jump Pad and think it’s an essential piece of kit for the Medium Class. You can use it to reposition and immediately reach rooftops. You can even throw the Jump Pad by your feet if you’re being chased to reset fights or disengage entirely. The Jump Pad benefits you whether you’re alone or with a team and brings value no matter the game mode.

Explosive Mine

Medium is the most versatile Class in the game and can be used for aggressive plays or to hold down an objective. The Explosive Mine is perfect for locking down an area, and you can score cheeky kills galore in high-traffic locations. Mines are pretty obvious, so you’ll have to rely on creative placement to get the most out of them.

Best Gadgets for Heavy Class

  • Dome Shield
  • RPG
  • Barricade

Dome Shield

The Heavy Class boasts the highest Health Pool in The Finals, and you can lean into that advantage with the Dome Shield. The Shield doesn’t last long, but you can shoot through it, and it’s an easy way to turn the tide of battle.

RPG

There’s a solid case to be made for the RPG being the best Gadget in the game. The RPG does immense damage and has a short cooldown, so it’s always ready when you need it. If you want some burst damage in your loadout, try this pocket rocket on for size.

Barricade

The Barricade is an excellent Gadget for locking down an objective and providing valuable cover for your team. I’ve lost count of how many times a Barricade has saved my life, and there are many cheeky ways you can use them. It’s worth noting that you can deploy 2 at once to lock down multiple angles.

Are Grenades Good in The Finals?

There’s a small selection of Grenades available for every class, and they are always worth considering as a part of your Gadget arsenal. Every Class can spend a slot on the following Gadgets:

  • Flash Grenade
  • Pyro Grenade
  • Frag Grenade
  • Goo Grenade
  • Gas Grenade

My favorites are either the Pyro or Frag Grenades. Pyro Grenades are a great Gadget to seal an area off or make it much harder to push an objective. Frag Grenades are excellent for securing kills and flushing out campers. Although I usually bring one of those two, I’ve seen every Grenade used to great effect by other players, so I urge you to experiment and find your favorites.
