The best alternative to the RTX 4080 Super

Unlimited power!

Nvidia has just made big waves in the market with the release of their reduced-price RTX 4080 Super. This formidable piece of hardware retails at just under $1,000 dollars and solidly maintains Nvidia’s market superiority. However, if you’re looking for an alternative to the RTX 4080 Super, there are still some options.

RTX 4080 Super alternatives

For the money, there isn’t much on the market that can stand toe to toe with the RTX 4080 Super. Sadly, the market isn’t exactly great for mid priced high performance GPUs. However, there are still a few.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX

On paper, these two GPUs have quite a few differences. The RX 7900 XTX has a huge 24 GB of Vram over the RTX 4080 Supers 16 GB. The RX 7900 XTX has a few more RT Cores at 90 compared to 80, and the Nvidia 4080 Super has significantly more Tensor cores. However, when it comes to price, they’re pretty much on par.

When it comes to practical use, the two cards sit almost neck and neck. Now, after initial testing, the overall performance goes to the Nvidia 4080 Super. It currently sits at a solid 17% higher effectiveness on UserBenchmarks compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Looking at comparison charts across various games, there is negligible performance difference between the two cards, with both coming out on top depending on the game.

The main reason to choose the Radeon RX 7900 XTX as an alternative to the RTX 4080 Super is simply to take a little bit of the market share from Nvidia. It may also be possible to find a 7900 XTX for a cut price. The GPU has been out for a while at this point, and a good-quality refurbished model is never a bad call.

RTX 4070 TI Super

At $800 dollars, this GPU is still going to take a bite out of your bank account, but it can still pack a punch for $200 less than the RTX 4080 Super. For anyone who doesn’t need lightning-fast FPS at 4K, this is a great alternative to the RTX 4080 Super.

The RTX 4070 TI Super is still able to run games like Doom Eternal at a staggering 375 FPS at 1440p and 245 FPS and 4k. This is only just a few frames behind the 4080 Super at 1440p and only around 24 FPS behind at 4k. Both of these speeds are more than adequate for playing all modern AAA games in amazing quality and smoothness.

As far as performance goes, these two haven’t got too much in difference. for the extra $200 dollars, the RTX 4080 Super is a slightly more powerful option. However, the RTX 4070 Ti certainly won’t leave you lacking. For longevity, of course, the more powerful and expensive option is the way to go, but for $200 less, you could do a lot worse.

RTX 4090

Maybe you have just won the lottery, or you have robbed a bank, either way, if you have the money to buy the RTX 4090, you’ll have the best GPU currently on the market. As an alternative to the RTX 4080 Super, it’s a crazy price hike. However, the resulting performance boost is monstrous.

It is being called the first true 8k gaming GPU and for good reason. The $1,599 price tag comes along with incredible performance across any game that’s thrown at it. It has been tested running Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Extraction at the highest settings and 4k with an FPS of 198 in Techspots benchmarks.

The huge price and enormous size of this GPU make it a struggle to fit into most people’s budgets or PC cases. However, with the performance provided by the massive amount of power, this pricey alternative to the RTX 4080 Super is the best of the bunch.
