New Cinematic Outlines The End Of Call Of Duty Warzone And Cold War Season 2 (1)

Call of Duty and The Last of Us veterans form That’s No Moon Entertainment

An impressive pedigree.

A group of industry veterans are coming together to form a new AAA game development studio, That’s No Moon Entertainment. Their resumes are especially impressive, consisting of vets from teams like Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Bungie, Playstation, and more.

They have confidence from investors as well, with South Korean video game developer Smilegate — creators of the Crossfire franchise — backing the new studio with an approximate $100 million USD investment. There’s a lot of confidence radiating from this new team, so what can we expect from them in the future?

A new studio of AAA games

For one thing, the group certainly isn’t lacking in ambition. There are people on the team who have worked on blockbuster games like the Call of Duty franchise, Fortnite, and The Last of Us Part II. The company’s ultimate goal, according to the press release, is to “craft a new generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences that will span both interactive and linear media.”

That’s No Moon Entertainment’s first project will be an “ambitious, new action-adventure game that will push the limits of both gameplay and story.” Staff credits currently include Taylor Kurosaki (formerly the Studio Narrative Director at Infinity Ward and Narrative Design Lead at Naughty Dog) and Jacob Minkoff (formerly the Design Director of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Lead Game Designer of The Last of Us and Naughty Dog.) Those are pretty prolific names and titles, so there’s a lot of reasons to keep expectations fairly high.

The company is still in the middle of expanding and hiring new developers, so it doesn’t sound like any sort of formal development has started yet. They hope to reach about 100 new developers by 2022, so we’re just going to have to wait and see how things turn out. You can keep track of any new announcements on their Twitter or Instagram page.

That's No Moon Entertainment

Hopefully we get another smash hit like The Last of Us.
