World of Warplanes has finally come 0ut of its closed beta testing phase and has now entered the open beta phase of testing.
The free to play aerial combat title was announced as far back as June 2011 and the closed beta started on the 22 May last year so its been in testing with the public for quite some time. The open beta test starts today in Russia and the US but EU players will have to wait until 4 July for it to launch here.
During this open beta, Wargaming will also launch the Unified Premium Account system which will tie-in the premium account settings between both World of Tanks and World of Warplanes.
“We thank every single World of Warplanes player out there, whether they’re just getting into the game during open beta or have been with us since the very start,” said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming. “The game has grown and evolved tremendously since we first announced it and I’m confident virtual pilots are going to be extremely excited when they get behind the cockpits of the game’s truly amazing warbirds.”
We have played quite a bit of World of Warplanes over the past year and it’s quite a casual experience. If you are looking for something similar with a bit more edge then we would recommend War Thunder, which is the better of the two games right now.
