BioWare’s Daniel Erickson, lead designer on Star Wars: The Old Republic, has decided to resign from the studio.

Joining in 2005, Erickson spent 7 years at BioWare before previously working at EA Canada. Things seem to be falling apart at BioWare, with co-founder Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka also leaving recently.

Erickson broke the news himself via Twitter, also taking the chance to attack the parts of the game industry that think the future rests solely in free-to-play, mobile and social games.

“As part of leaving BioWare I’m officially starting a twitter account for job hunt and design thoughts,” Erickson wrote on Twitter.

“When 90% of the industry is saying the exact same thing (social, mobile, FTP!) a huge number of people are going to lose that race.”
