What’s new in patch 1.03?
This is definitely a major patch for Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. Not only are we seeing several maps as part of the Raid Dungeons content, but we’ll also notice some much-needed improvements.
The first ones you’ll likely cheer for would be the tweaks to loading times and FPS/framerates. Previously, these technical issues led me to look for quick fixes and, because optimization and performance woes continued to persist, my experience with the game soured as time went on. Thankfully, the latest update provided welcome improvements. No, your FPS won’t just magically get bumped up and the game won’t suddenly become 100% seamless without any loading screens. However, everything just feels a lot smoother and more manageable than before.
Next up, you can check out Kirito’s Tent for customization options. There are some brand new hairstyles and face types that you can use for Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris‘ main character.
Likewise, if you’ve been focusing on the affinity/heart-to-heart minigame, then you can now pick up Medina’s prize outfit/affinity costume. Just remember that you need to reach 100% with both her character traits (aka. anima and persona) before you can see her new costume in the Visualize Attire panel.
There are also more Visualize Attire goodies for you to check out. These include multiple cosmetic outfits based on various NPCs and the Icethorn/Goldflower Warrior Garb costume (seen below).
Note: Additional cosmetic options include the Gavel of Gluttory, Wayfarer Armor, and Dark Knight Claymore. However, there are certain conditions that you need to unlock, and I’ve yet to find out what those are. If you’ve discovered them already, let us know.
There’s more content to check out including a unique wayfarer named “ReoNa” who’s based on the singer of the game’s theme song. There are also a multitude of fixes from quest bugs, multiplayer issues, general progression, and more. You can read the rest of the patch notes from Bandai Namco’s official website.
Next up, let’s take a look at the new Raid Dungeons and how they actually work. Head over to our Raid Dungeons basics section.
