The first zone you get to explore in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is Lodend Mountains, but you’ll only be able to return here during chapter 3. Later, though, you’ll want to consider hunting elites so you can fight the Divine Beast there — Flashfang the Ancient. Assuming you already know the basics about Monoliths and summoning Divine Beasts, let’s get started with our hunt.
Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris – Monolith and elites (Lodend Mountains and Uetra Valley)
The Monolith in Lodend Mountains is off the beaten path, and, if I recall correctly, you’ll pass close to its location during one of the main quests in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. Anyway, here’s a quick refresher.
First, fast travel to Rest Stop by the Mountain Path and cut through the fields heading northwest.
You’ll find some crags beyond.
Jump on the rocks and you’ll be at an area called the Taboo Land of Abduction (ooh, creepy). You’ll find the Monolith and a nearby savepoint.
Anyway, your goal is to kill elites in Lodend Mountains and Uetra Valley. The former has four targets and the latter has three.
Lodend Mountains: Elite #1
Here’s a map of the southern portion of Lodend Mountains:
For the first elite, fast travel to Gigas Cedar and head straight to the west.
The clearing here has a level 54 Great Horn. Here are the rewards:
Lodend Mountains: Elite #2
Fast travel back to Gigas Cedar and head east this time. You’ll reach a valley with a wooden bridge, a river, and a hill just beyond that.
There’s a level 58 Many-Horned Fiend elite here.
Rewards:
Lodend Mountains: Elite #3
From your current position, go further south. You’ll eventually reach Claocus Mine Ruins where we found the golden treasure chest in the Lodend Mountains zone.
Rockdrake the Tremorer (level 37) will emerge.
Rewards:
Lodend Mountains: Elite #4
The last elite in this region is all the way to the north, so here’s a map of the northern portion:
Fast travel to the End Mountains and, instead of going inside the cave, turn around and keep running south. You can climb on the rock formations here.
Silverfrost the Tyrant (level 45) is your opponent here.
Rewards:
Uetra Valley: Elite #1
Next up, here’s a map of Uetra Valley:
For our first target, fast travel to Uetra Waterfall and look behind you to see the vines.
Climb all the way to the top and you’ll see a level 59 Creeping Crab.
Rewards:
Uetra Valley: Elite #2
Go back to Uetra Waterfall and follow the river as it flows to the southwest. You’ll see an elite named Woodsoul the Fallen (level 36).
Rewards:
Uetra Valley: Elite #3
The final elite in Uetra Valley can be found in the Domain of Devils area. It’s likely that you’ve been here before as part of a main quest in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris or while you’re looking for golden treasure chests in Uetra Valley.
This fight will be against Forestfin the Ravenous (level 48). This flying whale is kind of like Skyfish the Whirlpool.
Eliminate this monster to get some rewards:
Divine Beast: Flashfang the Ancient
Once you’re done with all seven kills, head back to the Monolith in Lodend Mountains and save your game.
Flashfang the Ancient is a level 85 (!!!) Divine Beast, and this gigantic spider has a few tricks up its, uh, sleeves? Leg sleeves? Pants? Eight-legged pants? Nevermind.
In addition to damaging pounces that can cut down your health by 50%, it’s also got Obliteration Ray. The boss will charge this attack and multiple lasers will shoot out of its back, hitting Kirito or any companion for massive damage.
It’s also got a Reflector Beam that fires in a straight line.
Once Flashfang the Ancient’s spider senses are no longer tingling, you’ll get the Savage Squall (1H sword). It’s got +106 damage, +16 attack, +34 AGL, and +35 Sacred Arts damage. Sadly, it doesn’t have an associated perk.
