Streets of Rage 4 Adam Hunter Dotemu playable trailer

Adam Hunter makes his glorious return in Streets of Rage 4

Adam Hunter is back!
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

As great as Streets of Rage’s combatants have been over the years, we’ve been kind of curious as to why Adam Hunter was left out. After all, he was one of the original favorites from the very first Streets of Rage, so you’d think he would come back. Well, it looks like Lizardcube and DotEmu were thinking the same thing — because he’s back in Streets of Rage 4!

In a new trailer that debuted during Nintendo’s Indie World today, the character made his return. He’s packing all sorts of powerful moves, along with an attitude that fits right in with the team.

Adam joins a bearded Axel, a glorious Blaze, and his own daughter, Cherry Hunter, in the cast of selectable characters for the retro beat-’em-up. You can see him in action in the trailer below.

Is there more where Adam Hunter came from?

Now, is he the last character set to join the party? Not quite. As you can see from the trailer, there’s at least one more on the way. His silhouette is in the final image, making him look rather large. We’ll likely get an idea of who this mystery man is sometime next year.

Speaking of next year, we have a better idea as to when Streets of Rage 4 will arrive. The game is due sometime during the first half of 2020. While that’s not a specific release date, that at least gives us a better idea of when to expect these fighting shenanigans. Next year can’t come soon enough.

Hopefully Lizardcube and DotEmu keep the party going with even more playable characters. Let’s throw Skate in there and make this a full family reunion. Or, for that matter, Max the wrestler, who can really throw people around. Actually, while we’re at it… how about Roo from Streets of Rage 3? Everyone likes a brawling kangaroo.
