Strafe is the 1996 FPS that makes heads explode on Kickstarter

Shooters in the 1990s offered explosive fast action and Strafe wants to take you back.

Are you missing the adrenaline pumping action of a 1990s shooter? If the answer is yes, then perhaps Pixel Titans’ Kickstarter for their FPS Strafe should be your next port of call.

Styled like a blood splattering 1990s shooter, Strafe is set on a spacecraft called ICARUS. After returning from a “scrapping” mission you find the ship is missing but the ship’s teleporter is in range. Time to strap on the weapons and investigate what’s going on. It’s cheesy I know but so were most 1990s shooters.

There are three weapons to start, the shotgun, machine gun, and railgun. These weapons come with a secondary firing method but they can also be enhanced with powerups which alter secondary fire. Strafe also features crafting elements and players will collect scrap from the levels and corpses to craft ammo and armour. These resources can also be sold for credits which can be used to acquire power-ups and “perks”.

If you love blood on the walls then Strafe is for you with its permanent enemy gib mess which permanently stays put on the levels. To complete that 90s shooter feel, there’s no covet and health won’t restore.

So far the team have spent nine months working on the game on a part-time basis and features such as proecedural level generation are already nailed down. They now head onto Kickstarter  to get this finished and they’re looking for $185,096 to get this done.

All that’s left to do is share this pitch video which is extreme and not for the kiddies. But who cares about them right? This is carnage on a head-exploding scale.
