Graviteam, the Ukrainian developer behind the Achtung Panzer! and Steel Fury series of tank simulators, has revealed a new trailer for its latest tank sim, Steel Armor – Blaze of War. It’s quite a thing, mixing full 3D tank simulatory fun with a terrifyingly detailed 2D ‘operational planning’ segment that makes me wonder if this whole thing isn’t a Wargames-esque attempt to make PC players plan Ukraine’s global invasion.
The setting is a new and rather interesting one. Players will be able to step into the tank-driving shoes of either “the Soviet, Iranian, Iraqi or Angolan armies” during “the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Angolan civil war and the Iran/Iraq war” (or the US/US war, as that last one should perhaps be called). In the process, you’ll be getting your sweaty, tank-coverting hands on both “the legendary Soviet T-62 and American M60A1 tanks”. Plus a few others, I’d imagine.
Steel Armor – Blaze of War will be released for the PC on 20 January. The trailer, and a few more screenshots, follow.
