Are there features you wished to see in Starfield? Well, thanks to data mining, one Starfield player created a highly requested Starstation outpost mod.
Some in-game files seemed to be for a space station outpost feature that Bethesda scrapped. Now you can access this feature through a mod.
A space station outpost mod by a Starfield player came from data mining files
A post on the Starfield subreddit demonstrates how this one player discovered Starstation outpost files from data mining, so they created a highly requested mod from them. If you don’t love outposts because of how difficult it is to travel to and from them, you can now pilot your own outpost in space.
The mod page on Nexus Mods explains how just two months after launch, they were able to turn these data-mined files into a fully-functioning Starfield mod. You can now pilot around an Outpost Starstation that should act just like any outpost would.
While it can be a little buggy with the inability to dock occasionally, the user says to add more standard dockers until it works. For them, it requires three dockers to work. They even give out a console command you can use to help with this bug.

When using this mod, all you have to do is create an outpost, create the space station control pad, and click on the terminal to modify the space station. Doing this will modify your newest ship to become a mobile space station.
I wonder why Bethesda decided not to include this feature. My guess is that it was due to timing issues, and it had to prioritize other features. Luckily, modders are on the scene, and they’ve delivered this highly requested feature. This post garnered a ton of traction on Reddit, with most players excited to try this mod out.
Starfield is available on Steam and the Microsoft Store.
