Starfield ship interior customization: How to decorate your ship

There is no place like home.

A lot of Starfield is about customizing your experience. Things like Traits, how you look, and what ship you have all make your identity in the space RPG. Thanks to the latest update, you can further personalize your Starfield playtime by decorating your ship. This is a new feature that may require some explanation, so follow along.

The first thing you’ll need to do is go into the shipbuilder on your favorite ship like the Narwhal. After, look for parts that say Empty. This can be done by searching for the Hab Manufacture that you use. Next, make sure the dimensions are 2×1, it seems the smaller 1x1s don’t count as an Empty Hab. You may have to keep scrolling till you land on the Empty sections. With the Empty Hab selected, you can now fully add decorations inside that part of the ship.

It’s also worth noting that you can add more than one Empty Hab, which gives you more options to customize your ship.

Before going, I highly suggest you take out your crew and assign them to outposts. Even with the new update in Starfield, the AI is annoying. As you move around things and decorate your ship, they can get in the way and frustrate you. So, it would be a good idea to empty the ship first and then start going to town.

Decorating your ship

Inside your ship head to the cockpit, and there will be a wall panel that has Decorate labeled on it. Interact with it, and you’ll get a menu that looks like the Outpost one. This menu will allow you to add, move, and place things. However, make sure you have the right materials because you can’t add decorations out of thin air.
