Stardew Valley’s eagerly awaited 1.6 update is scheduled for release today, on March 19. Unlike some other release schedules, we don’t have a guaranteed time for this one, and the developer, ConcernedApe, is urging fans to show patience.
When is the Stardew Valley 1.6 update going live?
Many excited fans are waiting for the 1.6 update on Steam and social media platforms like Reddit. Amidst the excitement one thread on Reddit has posted a screenshot from the Discord channel from ConcernedApe, which simply reads, “Don’t get too ready, it’ll still be a little while probably.”
Naturally, we have no idea how long a “little while” is, but it’s fair to assume it will still arrive sometime today. It’s important to remember that ConcernedApe is a solo developer, and updates that follow strict schedules are typically managed by much larger development teams.
Fortunately, the community seems happy to wait even though the excitement is palpable. ConcernedApe is adored by many Stardew Valley players for his transparency and positive approach to the modding scene.
Is Stardew Valley 1.6 coming to consoles?
The 1.6 update will launch on PC first, and consoles will follow later. Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeframe for this, but ConcernedApe doesn’t want a repeat of the 1.5 launch.
Stardew Valley 1.5 launched back in 2020 on PC but took a year to hit consoles. As ConcernedApe has addressed this, fingers crossed that everyone on every platform will be able to enjoy 1.6 before long.
The 1.6 update isn’t meant to be as large as 1.5 but includes many enhancements to end-game content. Concerned Ape has recommended that players start a new world for the update. There are new festivals and voice lines, among other additions. That said, the update will work on existing worlds and should be compatible with most mods at launch.
