The RTS gurus at Blizzard have been watching the progress of StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm players very closely according to a Blizzard developer post.
When a new incarnation of any RTS is launched, especially one that’s integral to eSports like StarCraft 2, there’s bound to be questions about balance, but Blizzard has said that “nobody is close to figuring the game out yet”.
Blizzard say that players are really experimenting with the game and “creative players” are not suffering from balance concerns. With this in mind, Blizzard are not going to jump the gun and make any changes just yet but you can bet there will be balance tweaks in the weeks ahead.
“We’ll try our best to not be too quick to make judgements on things that are allowing players to play a much more aggressive game. For example, yes Medivacs look strong but it’s forcing even the opponents to play aggressive and the constant action throughout the game is looking to be really fun to watch. We’ll continue watching all the pro and community concerns, but keep in mind we’d really like the game to settle before we step in and make a move”
How are you finding it so far?
