It looks as though Starbreeze Studios may be working on another Syndicate title.Sources have confirmed, separately, to both GI.biz and CVG that Starbreeze – the company behind Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and the Darkness – have been working on a Syndicate title for EA since August 2007, under the codename of Project Redlime. Redlime has previously been mentioned as one of EA’s “most acclaimed classic franchises.”The title is apparently due for release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, although Starbreeze’s efforts are currenlty focused on a new Bourne game, so it’ll be awhile before we see anything.Syndicate was a 1993 game developed by Bullfrog under Peter Molyneux, known most recently for Fable 2. Players had to conquer the world with a squad of trenchcoat-clad, cybernetically enhanced agents, using both heavy weapons and sneaky, underhanded tactics. And researching and buying new weapons all the while, obviously.Syndicate was hugely acclaimed by both gamers and critics, and spawned one sequel, the less-impressive Syndicate Wars. If this is true, we cannot wait. We’ve contacted both Starbreeze and EA, and all we’ve been told is “No comment.”
