To help promote the release of Cryptic’s Star Trek Online, Star Trek fans gathered in London over the weekend to set a new world record for the largest gathering of Star Trek fans dressed in character. The record was set when 99 fans turned up at the Millennium Bridge in London watched by Guiness World Records representatives and Giles Aston, Star trek afficionado and Jean Luc Picard impersonator, who was also on hand to verify the attendees had turned up in authentic outfits. Lee Kirton, Head of PR at Namco Bandai said of the event:“The turnout today was nothing short of fantastic. Namco Bandai are absolutely delighted to have been involved in this record breaking activity and it’s a testament to the Star Trek fans’ amazing dedication that so many turned out on Valentine’s Day.”This attempt appears to be a new category for Guinness World Records and no doubt we’ll see even more of these cosplay record attempts in the future.
