Top Secret Snack – How to collect the first golden acorn

Squirrel with a Gun’s opening sequence is where you collect the first golden acorn. Activate all the buttons in the first room and chow down on the giant acorn on the middle platform, then witness the title’s namesake.

Superhero Landing – How to perform a superhero landing

To perform a superhero landing in Squirrel with a Gun, jump or fall from an extended height and press the jump button just before you land. Really hard on the knees; totally impractical.

Phone Thief! – How to steal a phone

Walk up to civilians in the neighborhood and wait for them to react to you. While some dote over you, others pull out their phone and snap a photo. Climb up the legs of an NPC with a phone and snap their neck, then grab the phone to earn the Phone Thief! Achievement.

Photogenic – How to get citizens to photograph you

As mentioned previously, civilians in the neighborhood may take photographs of you if you approach them without brandishing a weapon. Have fifteen NPCs take your photo to earn the Photogenic achievement. Just don’t snap their neck this time. Remember, you can die, enter a special zone, or restart the game if you run out of citizens.

Reach For The Sky! — How to hold up a citizen

Pick up a gun and hold the aim button in front of a citizen to hold them up. NPCs held at gunpoint will drop their hard-earned acorns for you to pick up, and your first holdup earns you the Reach For The Sky! Achievement.

Crime Wave

Holding up twenty citizens earns you the Crime Wave Achievement. Dying, restarting the game, or entering a special area resets citizens if you happen to run out.

Joy Ride — How to unlock the car

The car is purchasable in Mean Streets, the first open area of the game, for 400 Acorns once you collect 12 Golden Acorns. Don’t worry; this won’t deduct your Golden Acorn total!

Once purchased, you can call the car anytime while standing on an open road. On top of being fun to whizz around in, unlocking the vehicle is also a requirement to fight the first boss and progress the game.

Anti-Tank Rodent — How to defeat Father and his tank

After purchasing the car and driving around, a cutscene introducing Father will play, opening a tunnel to a new area. Drive into the tunnel and be prepared to fight Father in his tank.

Shoot the green circles on both sides of the tank’s treads, then quickly run underneath and shoot the green shapes to blow off the tank’s front grill. Run from the electrical field, then get ready to shoot the targets again.

Once you sabotage the tank again, jump on top and throw the explosives conveniently stored in the turret basket at the commander’s hatch to blow it away. Run away from the electrical field again and get ready to shoot the treads again.

Demobilize the tank yet again and throw the explosives in the open commander’s hatch until Father is defeated. If you have it unlocked, I recommend using the Bomb Suit to protect yourself from explosive damage.

John, Loo, and Dunny — All latrine (toilet) locations

The John, Loo, and Dunny Achievement requires you to visit all three toilets in the game.

Toilet #1 — Fenced Block

The first toilet is a porta-potty next to the fenced minefield in Mean Streets. If you still need the Bomb Helmet and Bomb Suit, pick them up from the nearby hole. The achievement doesn’t require these Outfits, but I found them handy for the Father fight and minefield objectives.

Toilet #2 — Cookout Party

The second toilet is inside the yellow house (Cookout Party) in Mean Streets. Jumping in the bowl drops you below the house, which is pretty lazy plumbing. If you can’t get in the door, either break a window or bait an agent into letting you in.

Toilet #3 — Yee Haw Zone

The final toilet is an outhouse in the Yee Haw Zone, the saloon area, accessible after defeating Father. Stay here for the next Achievement!

I’m an Oil Squirrel — How to strike oil

At the Yee Haw Zone, grab an explosive from the saloon and drop it down the hole in the outhouse, then stand in the “oil” to earn I’m an Oil Squirrel. Gross.

Nautical Squirrel — How to unlock the boat

Once you have 23 Golden Acorns, purchase the boat for 400 Acorns at the poolside in Tough Streets, the area unlocked after defeating Father. Hop on to the toy boat or water skis and enjoy a ride into the next area.

Rocket Flying Squirrel — How to ride on a rocket

Find an agent with a rocket launcher in Wet Streets, accessible via the boat in Tough Streets. Press the fire button when a rocket is fired at you to ride it and earn the Rocket Flying Squirrel Achievement. You can’t ride rockets while holding something, so ensure your squirrel does not, in fact, have a gun.

Action Button Hero — how to perform every Takedown

To earn the Action Button Hero Achievement, perform a Takedown with the following weapons:

• Unarmed
• Neck Snap (climb onto the head while unarmed)
• Pistol
• Submachine Gun
• Shotgun
• Six-Shooter
• Grenade Launcher
• Sniper Rifle
• Rocket Launcher

If you have yet to get your paws on one, six-shooters are available in the Yee Haw Zone in Tough Streets.

Flying Squirrel — How to unlock the Quadcopter

Press all the giant buttons in Wet Streets to unlock the door to the quadcopter. This vehicle requires a hefty 40 Golden Acorns to unlock and costs 400 Acorns to purchase. Riding the quadcopter for the first time unlocks the Flying Squirrel Achievement and grants access to Mother’s Tower.

Close Shave — How to shave agents

Touching an agent’s head while riding the quadcopter will “shave” them. Give thirty agents a nice haircut to earn the Close Shave Achievement. The easiest method to grab this Achievement by far is shaving the heads of the agents in the Mother’s Tower section. Watch out for their grabby hands, though!

Yippee-Ki-Yay, Mother-Nutter!

Defeating one hundred agents unlocks the Yipee-Ki-Yay, Mother-Nutter! Achievement. This achievement will be earned naturally as you progress Squirrel with a Gun.

Anti-Aircraft Rodent — How to defeat Mother and her helicopter

Following the short segment in Mother’s Tower after unlocking the quadcopter in Wet Streets, it’s time to face the game’s final boss: Mother.

Shoot the light to get the beam out of your face, then focus on shooting the green parts of the helicopter to make it crash. Once it lands, open fire on the agents inside. I highly recommend your focus (F or right stick) for smoother aim.

When the ‘copter retakes flight, run from the electrical field, throw your weapon, and climb the poles to higher ground. Avoid the rockets and incoming fire while shooting the green parts of the helicopter to make it crash once more. Shoot the agents and get ready to run away from the electrical field to the bridge.

Use the gyrocopter to fly away from the lava below, then focus on shooting the helicopter’s weak points. Whatever you do, don’t go near the blades. Once you’ve hit each weak point enough, that’s it! You beat Squirrel with a Gun, but don’t put down the controller or mouse quite yet.

Street Credits — How to get a perfect score in the credits minigame

After Mother is defeated, you’re placed on an automated quadcopter holding an SMG with unlimited ammo. Hit all 128 credits to get a perfect score and earn the Street Credits Achievement. I highly recommend holding the trigger/mouse for the entire duration so as not to miss any names, like I definitely did.

Shavior — How to shave citizens

If you have 49 Golden Acorns and have beaten the game, you can purchase a quadcopter to have fun with in the open world for 1000 Acorns. Zoom around the neighborhood and touch the heads of citizens to shave them. You need to shave thirty Citizens to earn the Shavior Achievement, which will require you to either die or restart the game so they can grow their hair back for you to shave again.

Platinum Acorn
