How to use the Rope Gun and Ziplines in Sons of the Forest

Over here and over there.

Sons of the Forest has several caverns for you to explore, but some areas are inaccessible since you can’t cross gaps. You’ll probably notice Ziplines, too, but you won’t be able to do anything with those at the start. Thankfully, you’ll acquire an important item soon enough. Here’s our guide to help you use Ziplines in Sons of the Forest by getting the Rope Gun.

How to use the Rope Gun and Ziplines in Sons of the Forest

To get the Rope Gun for the Ziplines in Sons of the Forest, you’ll want to make sure that you have the Flashlight. That’s because you’ll enter a dingy cavern, and the Flashlight will help you see in the dark, while letting you use your main hand weapon.

Anyway, the location that you’ll go to is slightly further away from the helicopter crash site. Let’s assume that the mountains are to the north and the coast is to the south, then this cave is slightly southeast (as seen in the image above).

Make your way inside and push onward until you see a large chamber that’s crawling with mutants. To your right, you’ll find the Cross item. However, your main goal is to pick up the Rope Gun in Sons of the Forest. For that, you’ll want to head to the left.

Shortly thereafter, you’ll spot a mutant monstrosity that’s blocking the chamber. This is a Sluggy, and you won’t be able to pass until you kill it.

The good news is that there’s an item that will help you do just that: look to your right and you’ll see a corpse. Next to it are a couple of Time Bombs. Simply toss one near the Sluggy and it will go kaboom. You’ll even receive the “Piñata” achievement.

Past this area, you’ll encounter more mutants, but you can just sprint all the way to the next sections. While the tunnels might seem confusing at first due to the darkness and enemies, you’ll see lamps that guide the way. Eventually, you’ll reach a narrow pathway with a couple of lamps. At the end of this area, you’ll find a case that has the Rope Gun.

With the Rope Gun, you’ll finally be able to use the Ziplines in Sons of the Forest. All that’s left is to take the Zipline to the opposite side of the chamber, which will take you back to an area that’s closer to the entrance.
