How to get the Stun Baton in Sons of the Forest

The Stun Baton in Sons of the Forest can be acquired relatively early in the game. In fact, you won’t need to worry about obtaining exploration tools and various contraptions, or seeking out rewards inside dark caverns. Instead, all you need to do is make your way to an overworld location (seen in the image below). Depending on the GPS map orientation, let’s say that the mountains are to the west/your helicopter crashed near the mountains to the west. Then, your goal is to head to the riverlands area (i.e., the place where multiple rivers crisscross each other).

You’ll notice a cave and a green marker. The idea is to move closer to the cave, but you won’t need to go inside. Instead, look for a pond with a small waterfall (one of the rivers should lead to it downstream). There’s a pile of skulls here that has the Stun Baton.

Now that you’ve got the Sons of the Forest Stun Baton, it’s time to smack your foes. Left-clicking makes your character do a regular melee swing. Right-clicking, meanwhile, is a charged lunge that causes the weapon to discharge electricity and incapacitate your target. It’s useful when you’re up against multiple hostiles, but do take note that its energy will drain when you do this. You’ll have to combine it with batteries to recharge it.

Related: The area with the Sons of the Forest Stun Baton is also one of the few spots where you might encounter Virginia, the Mutant Lady. Try to avoid attacking or killing her. She could, eventually, become a companion, and you’ll even be able to pick up a Floral Dress for her.
