Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Knuckles Spin Off

We’re getting a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie and a Knuckles spin-off series

Knuckles & Knuckles.

The second Sonic the Hedgehog movie isn’t out until April 8, but we already got confirmation that more is on the way. A reported by Deadline, Sega and Paramount are continuing the collaboration with both Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie and a spin-off series starring Knuckles. And yes, Idris Elba, who is voicing the gem-loving echidna in the second film, is on board for the show.

From the sound of things, we’re going to see the Knuckles in action before the third movie. The series is set to premiere on Paramount+ in 2023. Details are sparse, but it could be a prequel revealing Knuckles’ background and how he stumbled upon the conniving Dr. Robotnik. Knuckles’ story has always been an oddly bitter one considering the family-friendly nature of the franchise. But because of this, it’s ripe for elaboration. The show may also fill the gaps between the second and third movies. We don’t know yet, but at least Sega seems pleased.

“We are delighted to announce that the third Sonic theatrical film and the first live-action Sonic series for Paramount+ are being actively developed,” said Haruki Satomi, Sega CEO. “We’ve got a remarkable partnership with Paramount, and we are excited to continue expanding the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with them. 2022 is shaping up to be a significant year for the franchise with the second film being released this April, as well as Sonic Frontiers, the highly anticipated video game title, coming this holiday. Sonic has been beloved by fans across the world for over 30 years and we look forward to continuing to bring memorable moments and experiences to them for many years to come.”

Please don’t adapt Sonic 3D Blast

Based on the recent trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, we’re left speculating what’s left for 3. So far, the second movie appears to follow the story beats of the second and third game in the original Sonic trilogy. It makes you wonder where we’re going next if Paramount Pictures keeps the trend. Sonic Adventure? Sonic CD? Wherever it’s headed, don’t let it be Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.

I suppose we may see after the Knuckles TV series concludes next year.
