EA has revealed that “something far-reaching” is coming for Mass Effect in fiscal 2011’s fourth quarter. That’s according to EA’s chief operating officer John Schappert who, while detailing what’s coming up in fiscal 2011 during last night’s Q3 earnings call, noted that there’ll be “something far-reaching from Mass Effect.”There are a number of possibilities. Considering that Mass Effect 3 is apparently going to have development “along the same kind of time frame as Mass Effect 2,” according to BioWare’s Casey Hudson, that’d put it somewhere around March 2012, which would be a year later, and thus seems unlikely.Other possibilities include a full-fledged expansion for Mass Effect 2 – not impossible, as we’ve seen a return to the trend of full expansions with Dragon Age’s Awakening expansion due over the next few months – or, perhaps, a PlayStation 3 release of the first two games, despite BioWare’s repeated comments that such a thing isn’t happening.
