Lava Forest, Arena, and the Cube of Light
Outside of poisonous egg traps that you can shoot, you don’t have a lot to worry about in the Lava Forest area. What you’ll want to do, though, is reach the western exit which has a hut that looks so out of place. Inside the hut is a gem. Make sure you have a save while you’re outside because once you interact with the gem, you’ll be teleported to the Arena. There’s no way back outside unless you complete your objectives in every section that follows.
Your first task is to open the strange doorway by activating two panels at the western and eastern parts of this labyrinth:
- If you go to the east (to your right while facing the strange doorway), the place is completely dark. Use spells or light sources, but watch out for phase spider mobs. There are also crawlspaces that you can go through to reach some loot.
- If you go to the west (to your left while facing the strange doorway), there’s a chest above a rock formation that you can only reach if you use the Fly spell. The main path, however, takes you to the Arena.
To start the Arena encounters, have your characters gather up around the alien-looking cube, then activate it. It’ll spawn several mobs. There are four waves here that’ll become progressively tougher (i.e., from hapless goblins to minotaurs).
When you’re done, pick up your loot from the two chests. Also, interact with the panel to open the doorway.
Past the doorway, you’ll find a chest that has a Magnificent Shield (Brightwall). If you take the loot, though, you’ll get attack by several elementals. When you’re done with them, you’ll come across a green dragon. It’ll disappear once you’ve done enough damage.
Click on the crystal, and you’ll be teleported to a surreal area. Let’s discuss the Cube of Light and the Zhoron fights in the next section of our Solasta: Crown of the Magister guide.
