Smedders teases – Internet misunderstands
A couple of days ago we reported that SOE were working on a new MMO which SOE’s John Smedley said would appeal to Star Wars Galaxies vets. During the Reddit AMA he said that if there was one game he could relaunch it would be Star Wars: Galaxies. He then tagged on:
SWG. I would do everything differently. SWG PLAYERS – OUR NEXT GAME (not announced yet) IS DEDICATED TO YOU. Once we launch it… you can come home now.
It doesn’t take Sherlock to figure out that whatever they have planned it won’t involve anything to do with Star Wars. Disney holds the rights to Star Wars and it would be nonsensical to reboot a Star Wars when they have already canned one.
For anyone who got confused by Smedley’s comment (I have no idea how they could), he posted a tweet just to make sure that everyone knows the next MMO is nothing to do with Star Wars.
just to clarify a point I made in my AMAA – we have a new game that I think SWG vets will like. It's not a new Star Wars game at all.

The best fans of SWG can hope for is some sort of space based MMO with elements that appealed to SWG players. We’ll have to wait and see what they’ve come up with but the fact that he’s even mentioned it means some more news could be forthcoming in the not too distant future.
