Smithsonian To Host ‘The Art Of Video Games’

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

The Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC will host ‘The Art of Video Games’ in March 2012, and they want your votes on what to include.
It’s a move which is unlikely to end the debate about whether games are ART (maan,) but does at least push us towards the answer ‘sometimes it seems they are, yes.’
The exhibition seeks to “… explore the 40-year evolution of video games as an artistic medium, with a focus on striking visual effects, the creative use of new technologies, and the most influential artists and designers.” Eighty games will be represented, and the Smithsonian wants you to help select them.
Register at this page to begin casting your votes for games across five distinct eras in gaming history. Voting ends on 7 April 2011.
