25 years ago (oh God, the specter of Death approaches me), the classic Simpsons episode “Marge Be Not Proud” made its television debut. The episode featured Bart desperately trying to get his hands on a copy of Bonestorm, a parody of Mortal Kombat. Unfortunately, his parents didn’t go for it, and he ended up getting a much more family-friendly game instead. That was titled Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge, and fans have been fascinated with it ever since. Now, thanks to dedicated series fan Aaron Demeter, you can play a fully recreated version of the golf classic!
Available right now on itch.io for free, the game is a completely faithful recreation of Putting Challenge. You can take Lee’s advice and use the putter to apply a “feather touch” or throw caution to the win and go for a 3 wood power drive. Of course, that will, just like in the show, end up with the ball in the parking lot. Bill Oakley, the Simpson executive producer showrunner for seasons seven and eight, even tweeted about the game.

Would you like to pick again?
In the latest update, which arrived two days ago, Demeter also added a scoring pencil. In fact, there is even a speedrun of the game. Because of course there is. Players who want to relive the true glory days of gaming should put some time aside to see if they are up to the challenge. Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge, that is.
But why stop there? NetherRealm Studios already said it is working on a title that isn’t Injustice or Mortal Kombat, so let’s get started on Bonestorm! C’mon, Ed Boon! What are you waiting for? While the team at NetherRealm is hard at work on that, I personally will just wait patiently for the Arcade1Up cabinet of My Dinner with Andre. Tell me more indeed, please.
