Ending conversations and epilogue
Let’s talk about the ending conversations and epilogue of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris.
After dealing with Charles, return to the longhouse in Melun. You’ll find Toka and Odo arguing. The two are about to come to blows just as Eivor steps in.
There are some slight differences in the ending conversations that you’ll get:
- If you spared Charles, it’s implied that Richardis will try to keep him in seclusion while preparing Bernard for the throne. Count Odo will not like that, and he leaves with a veiled threat.
- If you killed Charles, Count Odo knows that it’s his time to take the reins of power. He’ll offer a toast to Eivor and Toka as he assumes the mantle of King of Francia.
Note 1: Historically, Charles the Fat’s mismanagement of the Viking raids led to his ouster. After he was deposed, Count Odo was elected as the King of the West Franks, the first monarch who’s not a member of the Merovingian or Carolingian Dynasties. As far as I know, there’s no way to make Charles abdicate from the throne (without killing him) so that Odo can become the new king.
Note 2: As for Bernard, he was never officially recognized as the rightful heir to Charles due to being an illegitimate son. A few years later, some nobles who revolted in Germany (Alemannia) chose Bernard as a claimant. He ended up being killed to stop the unrest.
Regardless of your decisions, Toka will give you his father Sinric’s armband as a sign of friendship and alliance.
When you return to Ravensthorpe, Randvi will greet you. She’ll ask what happened in Francia. Eivor shares that story, adding that it will be a long time before the Franks land on English shores.
