What happens when you pick Dr. Patel or Rafael in the Starfield Entangled mission?

The end of the Entangled mission in Starfield requires you to pick Rafael or Dr. Patel. You can only pick one universe, which means the Entangled mission presents a trolley problem. Here are all the outcomes of picking Rafael or Dr. Patel in Starfield and which one is better.

Starfield Entangled mission guide: Rafael or Dr. Patel?

Do you save the one by picking Rafael or save the many by picking Dr. Patel? It’s presumed that the universe you don’t select will continue in its own multiverse timeline, but the one you select and help out will fare better.

I think choosing Dr. Patel is objectively the better choice. While Rafael does need more help than Dr. Patel, the rewards you get for choosing Dr. Patel are much better. Plus, your decision doesn’t have any real weight to the rest of the campaign, so the rewards you get for picking one over the other are what matters most.

What happens when you pick Dr. Patel in Starfield?

If you pick Dr. Patel, you’ll earn 800 XP, 11,800 Credits, and the Incendiary Experimental Nishina Spacesuit. The Nishina Spacesuit is Legendary armor that is some of the best in the game.

The Spacesuit has 89 Phys, 121 Engy, and 105 EM. It has Beast Hunter which helps you take less damage from beasts, Auto-Medic which automatically uses a Med Pack when you drop below 25% health, and Incendiary which gives you a 10% chance to ignite nearby attackers.

If you’re doing the infinite money glitch, then Credits aren’t that important, but 11,800 Credits is no small amount. Overall, the rewards you get after picking Dr. Patel make her the better option.

What happens when you pick Rafael in Starfield?

If you pick Rafael, you’ll get 800 XP, one Indicite Wafer, two Comm Relays, and four Vytinium. These resources, as rare as Vytinium is, are not better than what Dr. Patel gives you, which is exactly why you should go with Dr. Patel.

The only other bright side to saving Rafael in Starfield is that you can visit him in the Viewport bar in New Atlantis and recruit him. This reward is definitely not better than what you get by picking Dr. Patel, but it is a happy ending of sorts.
