Should you get the Neon Street Rat trait in Starfield?

Are the Neon lights worth it?

Building your character in Starfield is a mix of looks, abilities, and a bit of background. You can make an Average Joe, a Diplomat, a Bounty Hunter, and, in this case, a Neon Street Rat. This trait – like all the rest –  carries its pros and cons, which raises the question: Should you get the Neon Street Rat trait in Starfield? Well, let’s find out.

The Neon Street Rat is a Faction-Based trait in Starfield. The other Faction-Based traits are Freestar Collective Settler and United Colonies Native. These types of traits will determine your background and also slightly change how you interact with characters in the game. If you pick the Neon Street Rat trait, then it means that your character grew up on the streets of Neon, located on the planet Volii Alpha, in the Volii system. This will open up special dialogue options and will also upgrade certain rewards you receive for some missions in Neon.

While you can enjoy this trait and all Faction-Based traits for role-playing capabilities, the trait is not worth it. You see, while you pick your special dialogue options, other factions will have a higher bounty on your head. You will find yourself in more unnecessary conflict. Moreover, in my experience, the Neon Street Rat rewards in Starfield are small, so this trait isn’t worth it in that regard. I would say it is just worth it if you are interested in role-play.

If you think that you could be better off without this trait, visit Ebbside in Neon and talk to Madame Sauvage. Buy a drink and then talk to her regarding the Neon Street Rat trait. You will then be able to pick a dialogue option and remove it.
