Baldur’s Gate 3: Should you go inside the Astral Prism?

Vlaakith, the Githyanki queen, tells you that you must kill the Guardian, your Dream Visitor, inside the Astral Prism. But you’ve probably sided with your Guardian this entire time, so this makes for a difficult decision. You should definitely enter the Astral Prism in Baldur’s Gate 3 if you want to further Lae’zel’s personal quest and not die by Vlaakith’s hands. Let me explain why further below.

Entering the Astral Prism doesn’t exactly mean killing your Guardian. Vlaakith tells you that they’re lying to you, and you can surely believe her. But no matter what you believe, you shouldn’t defy Vlaakith, and you should get the chance to enter the Astral Prism. Saying no to the queen results in your immediate deaths, so just say yes.

If you want to keep Lae’zel in your party, you should obey the Githyanki queen and go into the Astral Prism. This is because Lae’zel will attack you if you disobey her. But there’s a way to sway Lae’zel’s opinion once you get into the Astral Prism. Once inside, head into the cave, and you’ll meet up with the Guardian alone. Now your Guardian tells you that Vlaakith is lying, so who can you trust?

  • Kill the Guardian: If you decide to go against them, you’ll enter a losing fight. They’re impossible to kill, and they’ll simply be able to heal themselves. The Guardian is now disappointed in you, and then says it was just a test. In the long run, this isn’t a good choice to make, as they now trust you less.
  • Side with the Guardian: If you choose to trust them, the Guardian is grateful for your decision, and promises that what Vlaakith says is a lie. You’ll get a better explanation of these lies, and once you exit the cave, you can convince Lae’zel that her queen lies to her.

In the end, if you want to keep Lae’zel alive, and keep your trusted bond between you and your Guardian, you should definitely enter the Astral Prism in Baldur’s Gate 3. Attempting to kill your Dream Visitor seems to not end well, as they help keep you alive, just as much as you do the same for them.
