Is it worth the purchase?

Gamers across the galaxy—mostly Earth—have been itching to get their hands on Bethesda’s latest big title. In the year 2330, Starfield takes place when humans have colonized outer space, and even other star systems. The group Constellation is on the hunt for the mysteries of the galaxy, and you can join them. Other than the brief story summary I just gave, are you still wondering if you should buy Starfield? We’ll give a run-down on why you should or shouldn’t take interest in this sci-fi RPG.

Is Starfield worth buying?

It’s been quite some time since Bethesda has invested in an entirely new franchise, so many gamers are skeptical on whether it’s a worthwhile purchase. There are many factors in play when deciding on if you should purchase a game, and Starfield in no different. Personally, I believe that if you have Xbox Game Pass, own an Xbox Series X|S, or have been a fan of Bethesda games before, you should definitely buy Starfield.

First of all, Starfield is available on the latest Xbox consoles, and even on Steam. Anyone with a PC may not be interested in this game, but anyone with an Xbox Series X|S should highly consider it. Now that Microsoft owns Bethesda, practically all of its future titles will be available on Xbox Game Pass.

This is a very worthwhile subscription service, since for a pretty small monthly price, you can play hundreds of new and old games. There’s no reason not to try out Starfield if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, since you won’t have to pay for the full-price game.

Still not convinced? Well, you may be familiar with other Bethesda titles like The Elder Scrolls series, and the Fallout franchise. Starfield is pretty similar to its past games, in the sense that Bethesda knows how to make an impressive RPG, as they’ve had over 20 years to perfect it. Although you may not be a fan of the sci-fi genre, as someone who adored Skyrim, I recognize many features from Bethesda’s past games in Starfield.

Why Starfield may not be worth buying

In opposition, you shouldn’t buy Starfield if you know ahead of time that shooter RPGs aren’t your thing. You can play this game in both first and third-person to suit your playstyle, but it heavily leans into many sci-fi themes and aspects, which may not be your vibe. There’s also a lot of ship building, ship flying, and deep role-playing mechanics, which can be a lot to handle for some gamers.

Overall, you should buy Starfield if you’ve liked old Bethesda games, you own an Xbox Series X|S, or especially if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass.
