The Adoring Fan in Oblivion was a rather funny and, eventually, quite helpful sidekick. He achieved meme status among fans of the game, and now, he lives on in Starfield. The Hero Worship trait can be chosen at the beginning of the game and results in an Adoring Fan approaching you quite early on in the game. He showers you with praise and adoration, then throws himself at your feet, begging to be a crew member. But should you accept or reject the advances of the Adoring Fan in Starfield?
Should you accept or reject the Adoring Fan?
Yeah, he is weird, and yeah, he is annoying. However, he is a fully devoted member of your fan club, I mean, crew, and he comes with a few perks. I would say go for it; the positives far outweigh the negatives.
Pros of the Adoring Fan
First of all, he is a real boost to your confidence. Feeling a little low? Just pop in to see your Adoring Fan, and he will shower you with all the praise you could possibly want in Starfield. He’s the perfect ego boost.
Apart from the endless praise, the Adoring Fan also has a level 2 Weightlifting skill. This means he has a little more carrying capacity than other companions. This makes him the perfect pack mule on those long adventures. Along with the weightlifting skill, he also comes with the Scavenging and Concealment perk, meaning you get a little more when you loot, and he won’t be found out. However, due to his phenomenally undying praise for you, he hasn’t got much in the way of persuasion or other social etiquette, for that matter.
Adoring Fans cons
The Adoring Fan is annoying as all hell in Starfield. If you don’t take a compliment well or just don’t want incessant chatter, he may not be the one for you. This is the only real downside, apart from not really being useful for much more than carrying stuff.
You can’t kill the guy while he is still a crew member, so you’re going to have to break his little heart. Simply select the ‘Permanently remove crew member’ option in Starfield.
