Sherlock Holmes Chapter One Fragmented Memory Mother's Room

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One — Mother’s Room (Fragmented Memory)

A crippling illness.

After solving The Gilded Cage investigation, Imogen Gilden hands you a bunch of items that belonged to her father. These include letters and a brooch that once belonged to Violet Holmes. This causes Sherlock to remember a moment from his childhood. Here’s our Sherlock Holmes Chapter One guide to help you with the Mother’s Room Fragmented Memory.

How to complete the Mother’s Room Fragmented Memory in Sherlock Holmes Chapter One

Go to the second floor of Stonewood Manor and make sure you have the drawing of the Fragmented Memory selected. This reveals a white circle with a scene. Check it out and the door to Violet Holmes’ room will open. There are over a dozen objects that we can inspect here. Examples include the doctor’s tools, Potassium Bromide solution, messy drawings (it seems that Sherlock’s mother was slowly succumbing to dementia), the letter to Siger Holmes (Sherlock’s dad), and more.

Chemical analysis and Jon’s Challenge: Chess

If you examine the chessboard, Jon will challenge you. Simply select “defend the king with the bishop” to win the match. As for the chemical analysis, highlight the Almost Empty Bottle in the casebook. Here’s what we need to do:

  • +3 red should be linked to the plus symbol.
  • +4 blue should be linked to the switch symbol to reverse the charge (-4 blue).
  • -4 blue should be linked to the plus symbol where +3 red is.
  • Drag this combination to the right.

Reconstruct the scene

After finding all the clues, you can reconstruct the scene. Have it look like this:

  • Corner – Sherlock cowers while Jon watches.
  • Desk – Violet throws the desk at Dr. Otto Richter.
  • Doorway – Mycroft enters the room with his hands raised.

There will be a short cutscene once you complete the Mother’s Room Fragmented Memory in Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. Then, you’ll hear a noise downstairs. Go to the hall to find a sailor who seems to be wearing a disguise. This leads to The Muse from Abroad investigation.
