A video that’s being billed as a “first teaser” for Shenmue 3 has been released today, showing footage from an in-development build. The trailer takes a look at a few environments, and some characters (both new and familiar).
The game is a long way from being finished yet (the current estimate is late 2018), which hopefully explains the mysterious lack of facial animation present in the footage. Unless Shenmue 3 is going for some sort of art-house style where the characters all appear to be wearing masks, I think things will most likely change before release. The guy Ryo fights is particularly egregious.
On the brighter side, some of the environments look pretty nice. Here’s the trailer. It’s PlayStation branded, but the game is coming to PC too.
